Mirdeth Castillo and Nirsa Roches stood on Penn Road this afternoon holding their children, Castillo was crying while Roches was simply astonished after an afternoon fire gutted the apartments in which the two mothers lived. The two lived in a three apartment house at number 44 Penn Road. Castillo says that at shortly before one she was told by neighbours that her house was on fire. She quickly put down one of her children whom she was carrying and tried to go into her apartment to try and save her household items, but the heat from the flame was simply too much and she had to retreat. She cried as she related that she has nowhere to go with her three children. The story is very much the same for Roches, she says she was not at home because she had gone to pick up her child from school but was told her house was on fire. By the time she managed to reach home, she dashed into her apartment and only managed to save a basket of clothes. She too says she has nowhere to go. “I no really know weh happen, the house burn down in less than five minutes.” While Roches does not know what happened for certain, she and Castillo speculate that it may have been faulty wiring in the house. Roches says that “when I plug in my phone charger it just get hot and burns.” Castillo adds that she has been living in the house for at least three years and the problem has always existed. However, the owner had rewired the apartments but it was apparently not a solution. Both Castillo and Roches are asking anyone who can assist them in their time of need to contact them. Castillo’s number is 607-9630 while Roches can be reached at 630-1324. |
