Attorney General to court after he was fired from that post. The matter came to a conclusion on November 11 before Justice Oswell Legall. Contrary to what has been reported by Channel 5 news, Lewis did not have any victory at the Supreme Court.

As a matter of fact, Lewis got the exact amount that the National Assembly had originally paid him at the time of this dismissal. In an agreement between Lewis and the National Assembly Lewis agreed to “If the person engaged is continued after three months, the presiding officers may thereafter,… advise the Governor General to terminate his engagement by giving him three months notice or by paying him one month’s salary in lieu of

notice.” On October 16 Lewis was informed by the National Assembly that “the Governor General has been advised to terminate with immediate effect.” Thereafter on the 16th of October 2008, the Governor General terminated Lewis’ services. On that same date he was given a check amounting to $6,375.24 but he returned the money to the treasury on the 29th of October. Thereafter, he filed a claim for $642,823.99 without explaining how he arrived at that figure. He then amended the claim to $573,341.80 in salaries, housing, entertainment, telephone allowances, and vacation leave for the period of October 2008 to December 2012.

After looking at the evidence, Justice Legal ruled that Lewis was entitled to $6,375.24, the exact amount of money which was paid to him but which he refused.
