His friend, 37 year-old Ian Robert Blair, was not so fortunate, and he was killed in that crime.

It happened on Wednesday morning, January 27, at Rugama Miranda’s home on Simon Lamb Street. Initial police investigation is that at around 1:40 a.m., the doctor was outside on his back verandah, picking in freshly laundered clothes. He returned inside, and that’s when he found 2 dark-skinned men, one armed with gun, the other with a knife, and they were assaulting his friend. The doctor reportedly grabbed a piece of furniture and other appliances, and he started to throw it at both men, in an attempt to rescue his friend. Blair managed to use the distraction to his advantage, and he ran into the bedroom.

The man with the knife reportedly ran after Rugama, and stabbed him in the center of the chest. He collapsed where he was, and when police arrived on the scene, they found him bleeding and injured. He was immediately rushed to the KHMH, but when the officers searched the house, they found Ian Blair dead on the bedroom floor; he had suffered 2 stab wounds to the upper left shoulder. A check of the Doctor’s possessions revealed that the assailants stole a flat screen television. Quick police response led to the recovery of that stolen TV, and the detention of 3 persons.
