Gomez squeezed the little girl on her butt, told her that she had a fat butt for someone who is only 11 then he tried to kiss her. When the child objected to his actions, he slapped her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone what he had done. The incident reportedly took place on April 19, 2015, at the girl’s grandmother’s home.

Gomez was unrepresented in court on Wednesday, February 10, and denied the allegations. He told Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith that he and the girl had an argument but at no time did he touch her inappropriately or slap her. He said the child came into the living room, sat down beside him and they got into an argument because the child told him that he was watching a very silly movie and she wanted to change the channel but he refused. This was when, according to Gomez, the child held her face and told her aunt that he had slapped her. Gomez denied doing any such thing.

Chief Magistrate Smith told Gomez that he had told the court a Harry Potter story and that she did not believe anything he said. The child’s testimony was not shaken in anyway said the Chief Magistrate and she found Gomez guilty of all charges. She sentenced him to three years for the sexual assault and two six month sentences for common assault and threatening words. The three sentences are to run concurrently; hence, Gomez will serve three years only.
