The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, when Usher was sitting on an empty bucket on his veranda. His aunt, who usually sits and socializes with him, went inside the house, and she heard him speaking to a man, confronting him. Shortly after, she heard the gunshots which claimed his life.

The gunman emerged from the darkness and opened fire on Usher, hitting him in the head and the left side of his body. He tried to flee from his attacker, but he collapsed inside the yard, where he was bleeding out. His injuries were severe, and he was transported to the KHMH for medical treatment. The doctors attempted to save his life, but around 3 hours or so later, he passed away.

His aunt had particular difficulty seeing him on the ground, suffering from gunshot injuries, and not being able to render help. She told the press that she begged the police officers to transport him to the KHMH a lot sooner than he was, but according to her, the cops told her that they cannot touch his body.

Usher moved from Belmopan to his aunt’s Hattieville home about a month and a half ago, and his aunt says that he spent most –if not all – of his time at the house. She doesn’t know of any enemies who may have wanted Usher dead. She said that she questioned him on any possible enemies, and she said that he assured her there was none.

He leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter who he is said to have had a very close relationship with.
