Marlon YsaguirreAt around 2 in the afternoon of Thursday, January 28, 17-year-old Luis Kerr Jr. was sitting in front of a house on Curassow Street when a gunman rode up on a bicycle and fired a single shot which hit him in the back of the neck. After being shot, Kerr ran inside the house and the gunman rode off on his bicycle. Kerr was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

On Monday police escorted 22-year-old Marlon Ysaguirre to the Magistrate Court where he stood before Chief Magistrate

Margaret Gabb-Mckenzie to answer to charges of one count of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm upon Kerr. Because it is an indictable offense, no plea was taken and bail was not granted because the crime was committed with a firearm. Ysaguirre was to be remanded at the Hattieville Prison until March 3. However, before he could leave, two additional charges were levied against him.

Ysaguirre was charged with two counts of attempted robbery. Those charges stemmed from separate incidents which took place on Friday, January 29. On that day, Ysaguirre, who was already wanted for the attempted murder of Luis Kerr Jr., attempted to rob Anthony Martinez and Brendon Crawford. Both attempts were unsuccessful.

For the attempted robbery charges, again, no plea was taken and bail was not granted because the crimes were committed with a firearm. Ysaguirre’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 3.
