Glenford MaturaA Belizean Maintenance Limited (BML) worker was fatally shot on Wednesday morning.  At around 7:30, 29-year-old Glenford Matura took a break from sweeping drains on Euphrates Avenue which is when he was ambushed by a gunman.  Matura was shot in the left side of his head, twice in the buttocks, and once in the left arm.  Witnesses say that after being shot, Matura still had enough life in him to flee from his killer.  He ran into an adjacent yard, hopped a fence, and then collapsed. He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

No motive is apparent because Glenford Matura was described by friends and family as a hardworking and committed family man dedicated to his four young children and his common-law wife of almost ten years, Lisa Tracey.  Matura’s family believes his murder may be related to Saturday afternoon’s fatal shooting of Elmore Neal on Central American Boulevard by an off duty police officer.  Matura helped transport Elmore Neal to the hospital after he was shot.
