Leroy KerrIn 2007, 26-year-old Police Officer Leroy Kerr was dismissed from the Belize Police Department after allegations were made that he was stealing gasoline from the Government of Belize.

Allegations were that Kerr visited the Shell One Stop gas station with police fuel requisition forms and pumped gasoline into

private vehicles. Kerr was accused of taking over $175,000 worth of gasoline between November 2006 and April 23, 2007.

Over 483 statements were presented as evidence. Included were statements from the then Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crispin Jefferies, Allen Whylie and the OCD of the Police Department, Mr. Hoare. After going through the statements, Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb-Mckenzie ruled that there was no evidence to prove that Kerr executed the crime of theft.
