56-year-old retired American Citizen, Daniel Justin Costell, has been living in La Isla Carinosa since April 4 of this year and was due to return to the United States within two weeks to do a liver transplant but that won’t happen. At around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, Costell’s friend called for help indicating that Costell was unable to breathe and was suffering from pain near the chest. By the

time Doctor Osburn Moralez arrived at the home along with the police, Costell was dead.

His friend, Michael Ray Buchanan told police that Costell began to experience pain to the chest and that he could not breathe. Information to police is that Costell who came to Belize in early April was a guest at Raul’s Guest House.  He had been renting a Condo and was due to return back home in Los Angeles, California for a liver transplant because he suffered from cirrhosis of the liver.

The body of Costell is at the Belize City Hospital Morgue awaiting a post-mortem examination. According to Officer in Charge of Caye Caulker, Sergeant Leslie Wade, foul play has been ruled out based on preliminary investigations and it appears to be a case of sudden death.
