|Mexican busted with one - 9mm bullet|

A Mexican national who claims he is in the Recycling business was, on Wednesday December 15, remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being busted with one - 9mm bullet. According to the Crime Control Act, the Magistrate’s Court cannot grant bail to a person being found in possession of ammunition until three months.
When he appeared in Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 15-year-old Diego Cruz Gonzalez - a resident of #6240 Buttonwood Bay area located on the Northern Highway was charged with a single count of keeping ammunition without a gun license.
Police say that on Tuesday December 14 they searched Gonzalez’s apartment where, inside his room, they found the single bullet. When asked if he had documents for the bullet, Gonzalez could present no such documents and police escorted him to the Queen Street Police Station where he was charged. Gonzalez appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Margaret Gabb-McKenzie where he pleaded not guilty to the charge, but bail was denied due to the nature of the offence and he was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until January 18.
