A 40 year-old resident of Ontario Village in the Cayo District was killed in Belize City and left inside a hotel room on Thursday, March 5. It is believed that he may have gone to the hotel with a female, and that he was robbed before he was killed.

49 year-old Oscar Amilcar Grijalva reportedly checked into room number 1 at Isabel’s Guest House, located at number 3 Albert Street, at around 11:30 a.m. When the caretakers of the hotel went to check on him about 3 hours later, they found Grijalva dead inside the bathroom. He suffered stab wounds to both arms, and his throat was slashed. What police have been able to establish is that he arrived at the room with a woman who left an hour before he was discovered dead. It is believed that he was in Belize City to pick up some money, and that his killer may have stolen from him. Grijalva is known to be a family man in his village.

Six and a half hours later, another resident of the Cayo District was found murdered, this time in Roaring Creek Village. What police have been able to establish is that at around 8:35 p.m., 30 year-old Elroy Ramirez, a resident of Young Bank Road in Camalote Village, was standing beside a pickup truck, which was parked inside a yard located in the Another World Area of Roaring Creek Village. That’s when a gun man approached the fence of the yard and fired a single shot gun blast at him. Pellets struck Ramirez all over his body, and he was rushed to the Western Regional Hospital for medical treatment. About 2 hours later, Ramirez succumbed to his injures while undergoing treatment.
