While votes were being counted for the San Pedro Town Council Elections, a family man and his wife were attacked by an armed thief who broke into their home and who was brazen enough to shoot the gentleman in his own house.

It happened at around 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday March 4 in the San Pablo area of San Pedro Town. 31 year-old Jaime Manzano and his wife had only just left their house to buy food. When they returned, they found a man who had broken in, and was in the process of packing up several of their electronic items.

Manzano, who is the holder of a licensed firearm, went for his gun, and realizing what was about to happened, the thief pulled out a weapon and fired several shots at him several of which caught him on the right foot and on both arms. The thief, interrupted by their sudden return, and the armed confrontation, immediately left through the door, and that’s when Manzano’s father-in-law, who lives on the upstairs flat of their house, came outside with his loaded licensed gun. He had heard the commotion, and he told the press that when he saw the gunman in the distance, he fired several shots at him, which caused the man to run faster and retreat.

Manzano, who was hurt by the deadly encounter, had to be rushed to the San Pedro Polyclinic, and later to the KHMH, where doctors were able to save his life.
