Belmopan, 25 August, 2010.

The Ministry of Defense and Immigration and the Immigration and Nationality Department announce that in an effort aimed at: (1) revising the processes for Belizean nationality and permanent residency to improve security, efficiency, and service delivery; and (2) clearing the current backlog of such applications, no further applications for Belizean nationality and permanent residence will be accepted for the period August 30 to September 17, 2010.
This will enter into effect at all Immigration offices countrywide.

The Immigration and Nationality Department also takes this opportunity to advise members of the public that applications for all its services must be done in person. The employment of so called “agents” or any other such persons are not condoned as they have neither official authority nor recognition from the Immigration Department or the Government of Belize.

The Department of Immigration regrets any inconveniences caused but assures improved service when they resume receiving applications on September 20, 2010.
