The response was immediate after he received the complaint and on Monday January 25 work crews were on the ground to alleviate the conditions. According to Ritchel Dominguez who is now the director of the National Sports Council and under who’s responsibility the upkeep of the grounds falls, work is being done on the field. Dominguez says that the work is being done in collaboration with the Belize Defence Force which provided the manpower and expertise to lay pipes in the trenches that were around the field. The partnership is as a result of a request by the BDF who wanted to use the field for practice and they offered to assist in making it safe for play.

Originally the trenches were dug to place underground pipes as conduits for electrical wires and other installations but the work was not completed and the trenches were left open. The Sports Council has now sourced 22 thousand dollars worth of pipes and those were installed and the trenches filled back to allow for play to take place. The pipes will be used later where electrical wires will be placed in order to power FIFA certified lighting.  That however is a ways in the making in the meanwhile the Sports Council will reinstall the original stadium lights as a temporary measure for games to be played at night as well.
