The Isidro Beaton Football Stadium is more than seventy percent complete and its beauty can no longer be concealed behind curtains of construction activity. The stadium is being renovated to world class standards at an initial estimated cost of $3.5 million. However the scope of works has been expanded and the massive beauty that will be the pride of Belmopan may actually end up being the pride of the entire country. “I have never seen such a green field,” said one commenter who saw images from the Hon. John Saldivar’s Facebook page. The structure will include home and guest locker rooms, V.I.P. and press boxes as well as concession area. |

Isidoro Beaton Football Stadium is a true beauty but it will be competing with a few other facilities for the title of Best of Belize. Government has also committed funds to the construction of the Victor Galvez Recreation Field in San Ignacio which will be upgraded to international standards at a cost of more than $1.3 million. Two football fields will be built in Santa Elena at the Victor Galvez Football Stadium for recreational and organized competition at an estimated cost of $2.25 million. The Benque Viejo Del Carmen Football Complex and Facilities will be upgraded to FIFA standard at an approximate cost of $4.5 million. Belize will have its first synthetic turf field in San Pedro Town for the San Pedro Football Field expected to cost in the neighbourhood of $3.25 million. Multipurpose facilities will be built in Dangriga and Punta Gorda for up to $5 million each.

These projects are being implemented by the Belize Infrastructure Limited.
