As Minister of National Emergency Management and Area Representative for Belize Rural North, Honourable Edmond Castro is carrying out a Flood Mitigation Program in preparation for the Rainy Season which normally begins in late May or early June.

Currently, drains are being opened up in the Maxboro Area of Sandhill Village with the use of equipment acquired by the Government of Belize through the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO). These works will take place throughout the constituency of Belize Rural North over the next few months.

Honourable Edmond Castro says his Ministry and NEMO are also identifying flood-prone areas countrywide for similar works to be undertaken prior to the start of the Hurricane (Rainy) Season.
