Monday July 5th saw the Project Launch for a 7.6 million dollar rudimentary water system that will see 9 villages in the Belize River Valley serviced by potable water. The Project which is financed by the Caribbean Development Bank and the government of Belize will see the construction of 3 reservoirs – one each in Lemonal, Bermudian Landing and Rancho Dolores. The water system will then see potable water delivered

to 9 villages benefitting as many as 15 thousand residents in the area.

During the launch at the Black Orchid Lodge in Burrell Boom, Hon. Edmund Castro commented that “this is one of the first promises he made to residents in the area and it’s a pleasure for him to be fulfilling his promise and will continue to work to make life better for residents in the Belize River Valley area and the entire Belize Rural North Constituency. He concluded by saying that it was a shame that the Belize River which transects the area was in the past not utilized to service the people in the area, despite the fact that this is the same river that services Belize City.
