|Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries receives new equipment|

On Tuesday March 29th the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative for Belize, Jamaica and Bahamas, Dr. Jerome Thomas handed over a set of tools and equipment to the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
These tools included portable pH and conductivity meters, Global Position System (GPS) instruments, magnifying lens, fruit tree pruning tools, livestock husbandry tools among others, to a total value of over BZ$35,000.00.
Additionally seven Dell laptop computers, a four-wheel drive vehicle and a motorcycle have already been provided to the Ministry through the Technical Cooperation Programme to strengthen the National Extension Service of Belize. This brings the total inputs to over $100,000 Belize. The TCP project also provides a series of trainings aimed at enhancing the technical capacity of the extension service to better support the farming community.
In accepting this assistance, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Rene Montero, conveyed his Ministry’s gratitude to FAO for its continued technical assistance and collaboration with the Ministry and assured Dr. Thomas that the tools and equipment will be put to the best use in service of the farming community.
