Israeli Irrigation Specialist Mr. Elisha Kenig is in Belize for a period of ten days.

Mr. Kenig is here at the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, with the objective of developing the framework of cooperation programme between Israel and Belize, which will

later expand to other meaningful areas of common interest. Priority areas identified so far include horticulture, vegetable production in green houses and irrigation.

This afternoon, special welcoming ceremonies were held for Mr. Kenig at the Conference Room of the Ministry in Belmopan.  Agriculture Minister, Hon. Rene Montero, as well as the Chief Executive Officers in the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs, Gabino Canto and Alexis Rosado respectively all shared in welcoming remarks for Mr. Kenig.

For his part, Mr. Kenig said he was glad to be able to lend his expertise and experience to Belize to see what can be done to improve and enhance Belize’s irrigation system for better yields and increased agricultural output.

The Israeli irrigation specialist will be visiting every district of Belize observing the existing facilities and making practical recommendations for their improvement and/or the putting in place of new systems and technologies.
