Dr. Lisa Johnson, who had been offered his post as the Director of the Hospital's Medical Services, has accepted, and she is now the second most senior staff member at the KHMH.

She is a graduate of All Saints Primary School, Saint Catherine's Academy, and Belize Technical College 6th Form. At the tertiary level, Dr. Johnson went on to study at the University of the West Indies where she completed her medical degree in 1994. She then joined the General Surgery Program in Jamaica, and she became the first woman to complete that line of medical studies in 2003.

She then returned to Belize where she practiced medicine from 2003 to 2007. She then returned to Jamaica, where she became the consultant general surgeon St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital, where she remained for 5 years. Dr. Johnson says that she wanted to increase her capacity further as a medical practitioner, and so, she took up a clinical fellowship through the University of Toronto, at both Saint Michael's hospital and the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Saint Michael's Hospital runs a level one trauma center. Level 1 trauma centers are where all the dire medical cases are referred to whenever the other hospitals in the area are unable or unequipped to handle them.

After completing her fellowship in Canada, Dr. Johnson returned to Belize once again to practice medicine, where she has remained since. Her education both locally and abroad has equipped her with knowledge and expertise to make improvements to the hospital. She has told the media that her biggest goal as Director of Medical Services is to improve the public relations at the KHMH. She wants to see the clinical and medical staff relate better to the patients and their families, and she also wants to see the good work which happens at the hospital to be publicized.
