Toledo Christian Academy and Bishop Martin primary schools are National Volleyball Champions Print E-mail

Christian Academy 2-time National Primary Schools Volleyball Champion (above) and Bishop O.P. Martin National Primary Schools Champion (below)The 2009-2010 National Primary Schools Volleyball Championship came to an end on Friday November 13, at the Belize City Centre. In the female championship game, the defending champion Toledo Christian Academy defeated Richard Quinn RC from Georgetown by the score of 25-23 and 25-18 to repeat as National Primary Schools Volleyball Champions.

In the consolation game, Chan Pine Ridge Government School defeated Hummingbird Elementary School by the score of 25-19 and 25-11 to finish third in the championship. In the

semi-final round, in the first female game, Christian Academy defeated Hummingbird Elementary in two sets by the score of 25-15 and 25-22. In the second semi-final game, Richard Quinn defeated Chan Pine Ridge Government School in three sets by the score of 28-26, 18-25 and 15-9.

In the first female game played in the first round of the competition, Chan Pine Ridge Government School defeated Hummingbird Elementary in two sets 25-15 and 25-17.  In the second game, Christian Academy defeated Richard Quinn RC by the score of 25-17 and 25-17.  In the third game, Chan Pine Ridge defeated Church of Christ in two sets by the score of 25-16 and 26-24.

In game four, Richard Quinn RC defeated Victorious Nazarene in two sets 25-18, and 25-14.  In game five, Hummingbird Elementary defeated Church of Christ by the score of 25-16 and 25-17. In female game six, Christian Academy defeated Victorious Nazarene by the score of 25-9, and 25-11. In the male championship game, Bishop Martin of San Ignacio defeated Little Flower RC from the Toledo District in three sets by the score of 21-25, 25-22 and 16-14 to capture its first National Primary Schools Volleyball Championship.
 
In the consolation game, Chan Pine Ridge Government School defeated Xaibe RC by the score of 25-19 and 25-10.  In the first semi-final game in the male competition, Bishop O.P. Martin RC defeated Chan Pine Ridge Government School in two sets by the score of 25-15, and 25-20. In the second game, Little Flower RC defeated Xaibe RC by the score of 25-13, and 25-19.

In the first male game of the day, Little Flower RC defeated former champion St. Alphonsus RC from Seine Bight by the score of 25-21, and 25-21. In the second game, Chan Pine Ridge defeated St. John Vianney in two sets 25-16, and 25-23. In the third male game, Bishop O.P. Martin RC defeated St. Alphonsus RC in two sets by the score of 25-19, and 25-22.

In the third game, Xaibe RC defeated Chan Pine Ridge Government School in three sets by the score of 25-22, 21-25 and 16-14. In game four, Bishop O.P. Martin RC defeated Little Flower RC by the score of 25-16, and 25-17. In the final game of the first round, Xaibe RC defeated St. John Vianney in three sets by the score of 20-25, 25-19, and 15-10.

At the end of the championship, Angelina Budna from Toledo Christian Academy was named the Most Valuable Player in the female division while Garry Martinez of Bishop Martin RC was named the Most Valuable Player in the male category. The Hon. Elvin Penner, Minister of Sports, presented the championship medals, and trophies to the players.
