Ladyville Technical Male Basketball TeamThe Central Region Secondary Schools Basketball Competition is fast winding down at the Belize City Centre.

On Monday November 23, there were two games in the male competition. In the first game, Tubal defeated Edward P. Yorke High School by the score of 81-71. The top scorers for Tubal were Devan Brown with 30 points and Darren Longsworth with 19

points. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Edward P. Yorke High School were Hanson Crawford with 21 points and Terrique Gabb with 16 points.

In the second game, Gwen Lizarraga High School defeated St. John’s College by the score of 69-51. The top scorers for Gwen Lizarraga High School were Matthew Young with 27 points and Sherwin Garcia with 21 points, while the top scorers for St. John’s College were Raheem Staine with 22 points and Brandon Castillo with 11 points.

On Saturday November 21, 2009, the only game on the schedule in the male competition between the defending champion Sadie Vernon Technical and Gwen Lizarraga High School had to be suspended because of the environment becoming volatile due to a fan attacking a Sadie Vernon Technical player.

On Friday November 20, in the female game, Wesley College defeated St. Catherine Academy by the score of 28-19. The top scorer for Wesley College was Devony Herrera with 11 points, while the top scorer for St. Catherine Academy was Kursha Pollard with 17 points.

In the first male game, Gwen Lizarraga High School defeated Wesley College by the score of 70-44. The top scorers for Gwen Lizarraga High were Matthew Young with 30 points and Raheem Flowers with 12 points. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Wesley College were Vince Young and Rodwell Neal with 12 points each.

In the second male game of the evening, Nazarene High School defeated Tubal by the score of 77-72. The top scorers for Nazarene High School were Alejandro Baptist with 28 points and Alberto Cuellar with 18 points, while the top scorers for Tubal were Devan Brown with 31 points and Darren Longsworth with 19 points.

On Wednesday November 18, in the only game played in the male competition, Sadie Vernon Technical kept its record intact when it defeated Edward P. Yorke High School by the score of 80-48. The top scorers for Sadie Vernon Technical were Aaron Cooper with 14 points and Raheem Gaynair with 11 points. For Edward P. Yorke High School, the top scorers were Terrique Gabb with 14 points and Orynkro Akpobador with 9 points.

On Tuesday November 17, in the male game played, St. John’s College defeated Nazarene High School by the score of 82-81. The top scorers for St. John’s College were Brandon Castillo and Kingsley Eusey with 16 points and Raheem Staine with 14 points; while the top scorers for Nazarene High School were Alejandro Baptist with 42 points and Kadeem Courtenay with 12 points.

On Monday November 16, in the first male game, Gwen Lizarraga High School defeated Ladyville Technical High School by the score of 61-49. The top scorers for Gwen Lizarraga High School were Sherwin Garcia with 19 points and Matthew Young with 18 points, while the top scorers for Ladyville Technical were Russell Staine with 16 points and Oswin Nuñez with 9 points.

In the second male game, Anglican Cathedral College defeated Wesley College by the score of 68-64. The top scorers for Anglican Cathedral College were Shawn Stevens with 26 points and Travis Bermudez with 21 points, while the top scorers for Wesley College were Vince Young with 17 points and Kaleem Loredo with 12 points.
