The Central Region Secondary Schools Football Competition opened on Thursday 7 January, 2016.

This year’s competition will see four schools in the female division which includes Gwen Lizarraga High School, Ladyville Technical High School, St. Catherine Academy and Wesley College. While in the male division the schools are Anglican Cathedral College, Belize High School, Gwen Lizarraga High School, Ladyville Technical High School, Maud Williams High School, St. John’s College and Wesley College.

In the opening game which was played in the male competition, Wesley College defeated Gwen Lizarraga High School by the score of 4-0. The goals for Wesley College were scored by Devon Davis (2) and Shemar Thompson (2).

On Friday 8 January, in the female competition, St. Catherine Academy defeated Gwen Lizarraga High School by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Kelsey Rodriguez.

And on Monday 11 January, in the female game played, Ladyville Technical High School and Wesley College played to a 0-0 draw.

In the game played on Tuesday 12 January, which was in the male division, St. John’s College defeated Maud Williams High School by the score of 4-1. The goal scorers for St. John’s College were Troy Guy, Carlos Guerra, Denroy Lopez and Chaishan Lewis.

For Maud Williams High School, the only goal was scored by Lincoln Myvette. Quinton Martinez of Maud Williams was issued a Red Card.
