St. Martin De Porres girls and boys win in primary school basketball competition Print E-mail

The Belize City Primary Schools Basketball competition continues at Bird’s Isle here in the city.

On Tuesday 26th January, in the first of two games played in the girls’ competition, Bethel Primary School won over Holy Redeemer School by the score of 4-1. The top scorers for Bethel Primary were Jaysha Jones and Sherria Barrow with 2 points each.

In the second game, Belize Elementary School won over Wesley Upper School by the score of 8-4. The top scorers for Belize Elementary School were Aaliyah Herbert with 3 points, while Kelly Liu and Michaelen Hyde scored 2 points each. For Wesley Upper School, the top scorer was Jada Gillett with 4 points each.

In the first of three games played in the boys’ competition, Holy Redeemer School won over Bethel Primary by the score of 40-10. The top scorers for Holy Redeemer School were Izid Lopez with 18 points, Lyzel Thompson with 8 points and Carlisle Clark and Anthony Usher with 4 points each. For Bethel Primary, the top scorers were Delhart Dominguez with 6 points and D’Andre Palacio with 4 points.

In game two, St. Joseph Primary won handily over Queen Square Primary by the score of 26-6. The top scorers for St. Joseph Primary were Eldon Byrd with 13 points, Gary Williams with 6 points and Brandon Vasquez with 4 points. For Queen Square Primary, the top scorer was Kanye Blanco with 5 points.

And in the final game of the day, Belize Elementary School defeated Wesley Upper School by the score of 21-8. The top scorers for Belize Elementary were James Courtney with 6 points and Eric Williams and Alex Ariola with 5 point each.

The competition continued on Monday 25th January with 2 games in the girls’ competition. In game one St. Martin de Porres defeated Belize Elementary School by the score of 9-5. The top scorer for St. Martin De Porres was Shantel Flowers with 9 points. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Belize Elementary were Michaelen Hyde and Aaliyah Herbert both scored 2 points each.

In game two, Muslim Community School won via the default route over James Garbutt Seventh Day Adventist School.

There were three games in the boys’ competition. In game one St. Martin de Porres defeated Belize Elementary by the score 26-21. The top scorers for St. Martin De Porres were Elijah Gabourel with 18points while Karief Smith scored 4points.  For Belize Elementary, Eric Williams top scored with 11points while his teammates Christopher Ning and Gabriel Coye scored 4points and 3pointts respectively.

In game two, St. Ignatius defeated Muslim Community by the score of 16-10. The top scorers for St. Ignatius School were Emmanuel Thompson with 10pointts and Dillon Arnold who scored 4points. For Muslim Community School, the top scorers were Ezry Alvarez and Jahiem Hamilton both scored 5points each.

And in the final game of the day, St. John Vianney defeated Calvary Temple by the score of 23-8. The top scorers for St. John Vianney were Ken Galvez with 9 points followed by Dwayne Tillett and Michael Palacio with 6 points each. For Calvary Temple, the top scorer was Jordan Ferguson  who scored 6 points.
