At the UB Gymnasium in Belmopan, the visiting Dangriga Warriors squeak passed the host team the Belmopan Bandits by the score of 68-63 in winning its first game of the 2016 campaign.

The top scorers for the Dangriga Warriors were Edgar Mitchell with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal; James Ewing with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and a steal and Macario Augustine with 11 points, 17 rebounds and an assist. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Belmopan Bandits were Kick Brown with 20 points, 5 rebounds and a steal; Kyle Pascascio with 12 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal and Geovanie Lennan with 11 points and 9 rebounds.

At the Belize Elementary School Auditorium in Belize City, the Smart Belize Hurricanes continued on its winning path when it defeated the Independence Thunderbolts by the score of 127-59. The top scorers for the Smart Belize Hurricanes were Farron Louriano with 34 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal; Jacob Leslie with 15 points, 1 assist and 5 steals and Brian White who also scored 15 points had 12 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

For the visiting Independence Thunderbolts, the top scorers were Hyram Augustine with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals; Alroy Foreman with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals; and Jason Daly with 11 points, 3 revounds, 4 assists and a steal.

The competition continued on Friday 29 January, 2016, at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, where the two times defending champions the San Pedro Tigersharks continued its mastery over the Cayo Western Ballaz when it upended them by the score of 71-59.

The San Pedro Tigersharks were led by Caleb Sutton who top scored with 23 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and had 3 steals in the process. He was assisted by Gene Myvett who scored 17 points, had 7 rebounds dished out 7 assists also and had 5 steals and Jamal Kelly who also contributed 17 points toward the win along with a rebound and a steal.

For the Cayo Western Ballaz, the top scorers were James Milton with 19 points, 10 rebounds and a steal; Ivan Flowers who scored 12 points, 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal and Winston Pratt who scored 11 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in a losing effort.

The competition will continue this coming weekend with 5 games on the schedule.
