juan manuel yapur wins digicell valentines tour.jpg - 69.56 KbThe Cycling Federation of Belize in collaboration with Digicell, sponsored the Annual Digicell Valentine’s Tour, which commenced on Thursday 11 February and concluded on Sunday 14 February, 2016.
At the end of four days of racing it was, Juan Manuel Yapur, a Mexican who rides for Team Yapurland, and no stranger to the cycling world in Belize, won the Digicell Valentine’s Tour with a cumulative time of 8:55:50. Joel Borland of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team took second place with a time of 8:55:59. Third place went to American Chris Harkey of TEAM Starlight with a time of 8:56:00. Brandon Cattouse of C-Ray Road Addikz finished in the fourth position with a time of 8:56:08 and he was followed by Byron Pope of Benny’s Megabytes who finished fifth with a time of 8:56:25 to round off the top five finishers in the Annual Digicell Valentine’s Tour.

The other top finishers in the Digicell Valentine’s Tour includes Nissan Arana of Westrac Alliance with a time of 8:56:38 and he was followed by Robert Liam Stewart of Western Spirit Cycling Team with a time of 8:57:01, and he was followed by Tarique Flowers of Benny’s Megabytes Elite with a time of 8:57:01 and he was followed by Giovanni Lovell of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team with a time of 8:57:04 and he was followed by his team-mate Joel Vanegas with a time of 8:57:20 to round off the top ten riders in the tour.

The other finishers in the event includes Herman Requena of Team Smart with a time of 8:57:46, David Flynn of TEAM Starlight with a time of 8:57:49, Ron Vasquez of Western Spirit Cycling Team with a time of 8:57:50, Zahir Figueroa of BECOL Uprising Cycling Team with a time of 8:58:07and Angel Tzib also of BECOL Uprising Cycling Team with a time of 8:58:25. Meanwhile, Mark Staine of Team Smart finished 16 with a time of 8:58:29 and he was followed by Jesmar Guerra of Benny’s Megabytes with a time of 8:58:31, and he was followed by Darnell Barrow of Team Smart with a time of 8:58:43 and he was followed by Richard Santiago of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team with a time of 8:58:57 and he was followed by Tariq Cano of Team Smart with a time of 8:59:02 to round off the top twenty finishers in the tour.

The 5th and final stage which was the Road Race took place on Sunday 14 February, 2016, the event started from San Ignacio to the Benque border and then to Leslie’s Imports at Mile 2 on the George Price Highway covered a total distance of 90 miles was won by Brandon Cattouse of C-Ray Road Addikz. He was followed by David Flynn of TEAM Starlight and then by Byron Pope of Benny’s Megabytes.

On Saturday 13 February, the 4th Stage of the Tour, which was the Belmopan Circuit which covered a distance of 35 miles was captured by Keion Robateau of Westrac Alliance in a time of 1:07:24. Joel Vanegas of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team took second place in a time of 1:07:25 while his team-mate Joel Borland took third place in a time of 1:07:26. Chris Harkey of TEAM Starlight finished fifth in a time of 1:07:27 and he was followed by Brandon Cattouse of C-Ray Road Addikz.

Earlier in the morning, the Individual Time Trial took place along the Burrell Boom Circuit Road from CD’s to Mile 6 and then back to CD’s. Juan Manuel Yapur of Team Yapurland took first place with a time of 0:27:21 and he was followed by Joel Borland of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team with a time of 0:27:32, and he was followed by Chris Harkey of TEAM Starlight with a time of 0:27:32 and he was followed by Oscar Quiros Jr. of Western Spirit Cycling Team with a time of 0:27:41 and he was followed by Brandon Cattouse of C-Ray Road Addikz with a time of 0:27:43.

On Friday 12 February in Stage 2 of the Tour which started from Leslie’s Imports to Data Pro and then back to Leslie’s Imports for a total distance of 42 miles was won by Byron Pope of Benny’s Megabytes in a time of 2:03:19. The second rider to cross the finish line was Brandon Cattouse of C-Ray Road Addikz in a time of 2:03:20, third place went to Nissan Arana of Westrace Alliance in a time of 2:03:21, fourth place went to Darnell Barrow of Team Smart in a time of 2:03:21 while fifth place went to Giovanni Lovell of Digicell 4G Elite Cycling Team in a time of 2:03:22.

The Digicell Valentine’ Tour commenced on Thursday 11 February, with Stage 1 that started from Leslie’s Imports to Mile 21 and then back to Leslie’s Imports at Mile 2 on the George Price Highway. Nissan Arana of Westrac Alliance captured first place in a time of 1:32:22. He was followed by Brandon Cattouse of C-Ray Road Addikz and he was followed by Giovanni Lovell of Digicell 4G Cycling Team and he was followed by Delawn Abraham of Westrac Alliance and he was followed by Keion Robateau also of Westrac Alliance.

Meanwhile, King of the Sprint went to Brandon Cattouse of C-Ray Road Addikz while the King of the Hills went to Ron Vasquez of Western Spirit Cycling Team.
