Edward P. Yorke High School bests Wesley College girls in high schools softball Print E-mail

The Central Region Secondary Schools Softball competition playoff round, which is utilising the International Softball Federation’s Page System, commenced on Tuesday 8th March, 2016, at Rogers Stadium with Semi-final game 1 in both the female and male categories. In the female game played, Edward P. Yorke High School the number two seed into the playoffs handed Wesley College the top seed into the playoffs its first defeat of the competition by the score of 14-9. The winning pitcher was Jasany Westby and the losing pitcher was Kia Flowers.

In the male game played, Gwen Lizarraga High School the number one seed into the playoffs won handily over St. John’s College the number two seed by the score of 18-3. The winning pitcher was Devonte Middleton and the losing pitcher was Alwayne Hendy.

The Finals is scheduled for Thursday 10th March in both the female and male category, in which the loser from game 1 will see action against the winner from game 2, with the winner moving onto the Grand Final scheduled for Saturday 12th March at the Rogers Stadium.

The regular competition came to an end on Friday 4th March, with a single game in the female competition, where Wesley College defeated Ladyville Technical High School by the score of 23-19. The winning pitcher was Shania Pook and the losing pitcher was Ashley Robinson.

On Thursday 3rd March, in the male competition game played, Gwen Lizarraga High School blanked Maud Williams High School by the score of 10-0. The winning pitcher was Devonte Middleton and the losing pitcher was Guellar Lopez.

The competition continued on Wednesday 2nd March, in the female category when Edward P. Yorke High School won handily over St. Catherine Academy by the score of 17-2. The winning pitcher was Jasany Westby and the losing pitcher was Kendice Armstrong.

And on Tuesday 1st March, in the male competition, Edward P. Yorke High School won over Sadie Vernon Technical High School by the score of 26-10. The winning pitcher was Devon Jones and the losing pitcher was Derrick Menzies.
