The Premier League of Belize Closing Season Tournament continued over the last weekend with three games on the schedule.

Of the three games that were scheduled to have been played, only two games were played since the Saturday night game at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village was postponed because of the inclement weather.

On Sunday 6th March, at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan, the Belize Defence Force blanked the league leading Belmopan Bandits by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Osmar Duran in the 16th minute of play that gave the BDF the victory.

Meanwhile, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the visiting Placencia Assassins edged out the host team Verdes FC by the score of 3-2.

Verdes FC got on the scoreboard first when Jarret Davis scored the first of his two goals in the 28th minute of play to give his team a1-0 lead. Verdes FC took the lead well into the second half of the game when Davis scored his 2nd goal of the game in the 66th minute of play to extend the lead to 2-0.

The visiting Placencia Assassins finally made it onto the scoreboard when Luis Torres scored his team’s 1st goal of the game in the 69th minute of play to cut the deficit to one. The Placencia Assassins continued on the hunt for more goals when Dellone Torres scored the equalising goal in the 84th minute of play to tie the score at 2-2. The final goal for the Placencia Assassins was scored by Dellone Torres in the 90th+ minute of the game that gave it the 3-2 victory.

The competition will continue this coming weekend.
