The Premier League of Belize Closing Season Tournament continued over last weekend with three games on the schedule.

On Sunday 13th March, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the defending National Football Champions of Belize the Police United blanked the home team Verdes FC by the score of 2-0.
The Police United Team got onto the scoreboard when Andres Makin Jr. scored his team’s 1st goal of the game in the 4th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. That lead was further extended when Carlton Thomas scored the Police United’s 2nd goal of the game in the 18th minute of play to give his team a 2-0 lead.

The Police United defence maintained its presence throughout the game and at the end of the long whistle it was rewarded the 2-0 white wash.

On Saturday 12th March, two games were played; at the FFB Stadium in the City of Belmopan the Belmopan Bandits blanked the visiting Wagiya FC by the score of 3-0.

Eugene Martinez scored the 1st goal of the game for the Belmopan Bandits in the 34th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The first half of the game ended 1-0 in favour of the Belmopan Bandits.

In the second half of the game, Jordy Polanco scored his team’s 2nd goal of the game in the 61st minute of play to give his team a 2-0 lead. That lead was further extended when Rai West scored the game’s 3rd and final goal of the game in the 69th minute of play for the 3-0 victory.

And at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village, the Belize Defence Force edged out the host team Placencia Assassins FC by the score of 3-1.

The Belize Defence Force were able to get onto the scoreboard first when Harrison Tasher scored the 1st goal of the game in the 32nd minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. That lead was further extended when Osmar Duran scored his team’s 2nd goal of the game in the 40th minute of play for a 2-0 lead.

It was not until the second half of the game that the Placencia Assassins were able to get onto the scoreboard when Mario Villanueva scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 61st minute of play to cut the deficit to 1 goal.

However, the Belize Defence Force offence did not just sat on the two goals scored earlier; as Paul Nunez scored his team’s 3rd and final goal of the game in the 81st minute of play for a 3-1 victory.
