Wesley Upper School girls and Hattieville Government School boys won the Belize District Primary Schools Football Tourney Print E-mail

The Belize District Primary Schools Football Tourney was played on Thursday March 9, 2017, at the MCC Grounds.

In the girls’ championship game, Wesley Upper School defeated San Pedro Roman Catholic School by the score of 5-4 in penalty kicks. At the end of penalty kicks the game was tied 4-4.  The goal scorers for Wesley Upper School were Leandra Bainton, Kelize Garcia, Karina Eagan and Jenecia Cacho, while the goal for San Pedro Roman Catholic School was scored by Veril Morris.

In sudden death penalty kick, Wesley Upper School came up victorious with a 1-0 victory. The goal for Wesley Upper School was scored by Jada Gillett.

In the boys’ championship game, Hattieville Government School defeated St. John Vianney School by the score of 4-2 in penalty kicks.

At the end of regulation time the score was 1-1 which forced the championship into penalty kick. The goal scorer for Hattieville Government School was Albert Arnold and the goal scorer for St. John Vianney School was Cyril Jones.

In penalty kicks, the goals for Hattieville Government School were scored by Robert Arnold, Oswald Young, Stephan Cassasola and Enoch Rhaburn, while the goal scorers for St. John Vianney School were Cyril Jones and Rafael Franklin.

In the first match of the day played earlier in the morning in the girls’ tourney, Wesley Upper School defeated Hattieville Government School by the score of 3-1 in penalty kicks. The goal scorers for Wesley Upper School were Tasheeka Tillett, Kelize Garcia and Jenecia Cacho while the goal for Hattieville Government School was scored by Veril Morris.

In the first game in the boys’ tourney, Hattieville Government School defeated St. John’s Primary School by the score of 2-1. The goals for Hattieville Government School were scored by Albert Arnold and Oswald Young while the goal for St. John’s Primary School was scored by Erwin Rhamdas.

In the second game in the girls’ tourney, San Pedro Roman Catholic School defeated Holy Cross Anglican School by the score of 3-2 in penalty shootout. The goal scorers for San Pedro Roman Catholic School were Karen Medina, Samira Sorto and Vatranny Perez. The goals for Muslim Community School were scored by Clariss Palacio and Gissell Martinez.

And in the final game of the boys’ tourney, St. John Vianney School defeated Holy Cross Anglican School by the score of 4-3 in penalty kicks. At the end of regulation time, the score was 1-1. The goal for St. John Vianney School was scored by Cyril Jones while the goal for Holy Cross Anglican School was scored by Luis Hernandez. In penalty kicks, the goals for St. John Vianney School were scored by Rafael Franklin, Cyril Jones, Jordan Tillett and Fredrick Garbutt while the goals for Holy Cross Anglican School were scored by Adrian Cobo, Luis Hernandez and Zenon Anderson.

Wesley Upper School girls and Hattieville Government School boys’ will represent the Belize District at the National Primary Schools Football championship scheduled for Friday 17th March, 2017 at the MCC Grounds and the Marion Jones Sports Complex.
