Belize Defence Force and FC Belize share lead in the Caribbean Motors Cup Tourney Print E-mail

The Belize Premier Football League Caribbean Motors Cup Tourney continued last weekend with games across the country. On Saturday April 17, at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village the home team Georgetown Ibayani defeated the visiting BRC Blaze by the score of 2-0. Karim Peters scored the 1st goal of the game in the 30th minute of play via a penalty kick that gave Georgetown Ibayani an early lead. The first half of the game ended in favour of the Georgetown Ibayani team.  Deon Burgess scored the 2nd and final goal of the game for the Georgetown Ibyani team in the

90th minute of play.

On Sunday April 18, in the first of three games played across the country, at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, F.C. Belize and San Pedro Sea Dogs played to a 1-1 draw. The home team San Pedro Sea Dogs got on the scoreboard first when Olvin Serano scored his team’s first goal in the 13th minute of play to give his team a temporary lead.

It was not until the second half of the game, that the visiting F.C. Belize was able to get on the scoreboard when Jerome James scored the equalizing goal in the 90th minute of play via a penalty kick.

At the Toledo Union Field in Punta Gorda Town, the home team Paradise/Freedom Fighters defeated the visiting Hankook Verdes by the score of 1-0. Delroy Flores scored the only goal of the game in the 85th minute of play via a penalty kick.

Meanwhile, at the MCC Grounds in Belize City, the Belize Defence Force blasted Shanaiah Corozal by the score of 8-0. The goals were scored by Paul Nunez in the 30th and 45th minute of play, Erwin Flores scored in the 65th and 75th minutes of play, Evan Mariano in the 69th minute of play, Khalil Velasquez in the 72nd minute of play, Woodrow West in the 78th minute of play via a penalty kick, and Gilbert Swaso in the 86th minute of play.
