The 2010-2011 Central Region Secondary Schools Basketball competition is now in the championship round with the best of five series. In the first of the five games series in the female competition, Gwen Lizarraga High School defeated Wesley College by the score of 36 to 18. The top scorers for Gwen Lizarraga High School were Glenda Torres with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals, Audrianna Meighan with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals, and Deandra Coote with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals.

Meanwhile, the top scorers for Wesley College were Anna Pinto with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals, Melissa Williams with 3 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal, and Gennae Samuels and Latiffa Sutherland with 2 points and 1 rebound each. In the male championship series, Sadie Vernon Technical High School defeated Gwen Lizarraga High School by the score of 81 to 69. The top scorers for Sadie Vernon Technical High School were Kaschief Thomas with 42 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals, Lincey Lopez with 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, and Andrew Ortiz with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

For Gwen Lizarraga High School, the top scorers were Matthew Young with 29 points, 29 rebounds, and 3 steals, Akeem Trapp with 22 points, 1 rebound and 3 steals, and Joseph Sutherland with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The championship series will continue on Wednesday December 8, Friday December 10 and on Monday December 13 at the Belize City Centre. The National Secondary Schools Basketball Competition is scheduled for December 17 and 18, 2010, at the Belize City Centre. The host school is the Anglican Cathedral College.
