The Belize City Softball Competition continued at Rogers Stadium on Tuesday June 2, 2009. In the female game, Lady Rebels defeated Hurricanes in five innings by the score of 16-1. Lady Rebels collected a total of 14 hits off the pitching of Hurricanes starter and loser Ortencia Bevans. For Bevans and the Hurricanes, the defence committed an astounding 12 errors. The key batsman for Lady Rebels was second baseman Carla Humes who went four for four at the plate, while driving in five runs. In the male game, Strikers defeated Rookies by the score of 13-6. The winning pitcher was Milton Flores in relief of Brandon Bood and the losing pitcher was Brian Gentle. Gentle did have relief help from Carlyon Flores who was able to restore order in the game. Carlyon Flores gave up two runs over the three innings of relief work. The competition will continue on Friday night with two more games. In the female game, Lady Rebels vs Hurricanes and in the male game it will be defending champion Rookies against Strikers. On Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in game one, Hurricanes will see action against Telemedia, and in the male game, Rookies will go up against Dantos. |
