Belizeans were so enthused about the event that tickets were sold out before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The excitement was over the star studded list of performers for the event. The show consisted of performances from Belize’s best Punta artists like Consigo, Danger Zone Band, New Rebels Band, Titiman Flores and the General, Supa G.More than one thousand people made it to the show and they were determined to not attend as spectators but as partakers. Though the Punta artists were great, there is no doubt that the star of the night was the crowd. They danced, sang, screamed and shouted as they celebrated a culture that has meant so much to our Belizean identity. It has been a couple days now since the show and the buzz is as strong as ever. Those who attended are boasting and those who didn’t hate on those who did. It was a historic night and there was not a single altercation at the event. The police and traffic officers were very effective and respectful. There has been only one huge complaint about the event. Belizeans in different districts of the country who were unable to catch the bus and make their way to Belize City for the event are demanding a show at a venue close by. At this time it is not certain that the show will go on the road but one thing is certain. The General Manager of Wave Radio, Juliet Thimbriel is a woman of the people and if the people continue to request a show in their area they may just get one. |

No doubt, the hottest tickets in town over the past weekend were those for Wave Radio’s Pre-Garifuna Settlement Day Punta Fest at Travellers Bar on the Northern Highway.
