In just one month, over 10,000 cell phone subscribers from SMART made the switch to BTL. That can prove to be as much as a whopping 12% of SMART’s subscribers. The second switch-over promotion organized by BTL was held last Saturday, October 31st and the response was even better than the first promotion. In every district throughout Belize, BTL offices were jammed pack from early Saturday morning for customers to make the switch to BTL. The sentiment expressed throughout the

country with the ‘new’ BTL is that finally there is true competition for Belizeans!

On October 16th and then again on the 31st, Belize Telemedia Limited (BTL) offered the public the opportunity of switching to their cellular service. The way it worked is that people with the other service provider (SMART) were enticed to bring in their phones in exchange for a Digicell phone.  While the offer from BTL was great, especially with three months free texting, when asked, most switchers explained that they were changing to Digicell because the service was simply better. They were tired of the long delays with receiving texts from SMART.  Digicell is far more reliable and the sound quality of Digicell is far more superior than SMART. And when you add to that, the ‘true per second billing,’ customers are very pleased with their choice to switch.  As a matter of fact, the calls have already been coming in to BTL to have another promotion and BTL is very open to taking more customers from the other provider.

With aggressive competition like this, the ones to benefit most from the cut-throat promotions will be customers who have recently been showered with deals including double-up and triple up promotions by both the BTL and SMART companies.

BTL executives state that because of the great demand from SMART users they are organizing themselves to have another make the switch promotion within the next few weeks.
