Woman throws hot water on co-worker Print E-mail

A 21-year-old employee of ICON Call Center located on Newtown Barracks has suffered from second and third degree burns to her face, neck, shoulder, upper arm, and abdomen. She is Brianne Rose, who says that after getting into a misunderstanding with a coworker, hot water was thrown on her. Hailey Canto, 19, has been accused of burning Rose and was arraigned on a charge of grievous harm before Magistrate Emmerson Banner on Friday, May 10, 2019. In court, she was read a charge of grievous harm upon Rose and pleaded not guilty. There was no objection to bail and she was offered bail in the sum of $1,500 plus one surety of the same which she was able to meet. She is due back in court on July 8, 2019.

The incident happened on Thursday, April 11, 2019. According to Rose, she and Canto bumped into each other in a hallway at their workplace and Canto refused to apologize to her. The two got into a misunderstanding after which Rose left to go sit at her assigned seat. Canto proceeded to follow her and threw hot water in her face, resulting in her injuries. She was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.
