On Wednesday March 29, Jose Romero, a 67 year old security guard at San Pedro, was freed of a charge of carnal knowledge against him. Romero was represented by Senior Crown Counsel Simeon Sampson before the court.

On February 11, 2010, an 8 year old minor and her mother reported to San Pedro police that Romero had sexual intercourse with the minor against her will. Romero was charged with one count of carnal knowledge.

In court on March 29, 2017, two witnesses, the now 15 year old girl and her mother, were called to the stand. The two expressed that they did not wish to pursue the case against Romero in court any longer. The victim was able to point out Romero as the man that molested her but because she did not have any evidence, she wished not to pursue the case.

Romero was free to leave the court given the victim’s wishes.
