High School in Belmopan recipient of a sizeable sum Print E-mail

A high School in Belmopan was the recipient on Tuesday of a sizeable sum from the Nation of Japan. On the 28th of March of 2017 the representative of the nation and people of Japan presented the Principal, Ms. Barrette Belisle, and Our Lady of Guadalupe High School O.L.O.G.H.S with a monetary grant in excess of over U.S. $83, 000.00.

Mr. Hideki Shinozaki, Second Secretary /Director of Economic Cooperation was the honored guest.

Shinosaki presented the grant to the O.L.O.G.H.S. and was given the opportunity to address the students, teachers, Board Members, Members of the P.T.A. and other invited guests.

Also in attendance was the Hon. Patrick Faber, Minister of Education, Youth, Sports, & Culture & Deputy Prime Minister, who spoke about government’s commitment to education and also thanked the Nation and people of Japan.

In attendance too, was the Mayor of Belmopan, His Worship Mayor Khalid Belisle.

The short program for the handing over ceremony concluded with a Hindu, Mestizo and Creole Dance.

A statement by the O.L.O.G.H.S issued today is as follows:

We are grateful to the people of Japan for their grant towards a much needed Teachers’ Staff Room & two computer labs. Thank you Minister of Education & Deputy P.M., Patrick Faber & Mayor of Belmopan, Khalid Belisle, for celebrating with us. We also thank our Board, especially Chair, Ms. Pamela Scott and P.T.A. member, Dr. Thomas.
