San Pedro Tiger Sharks and the Belmopan Bandits clinch a spot in the Pepsi basketball playoffs Print E-mail

The Pepsi National Elite Basketball League Basketball regular season continued over the weekend with a number of games on the schedule.

On Saturday 1st April 2017, at the San Pedro High School Auditorium in San Pedro Town, the league’s leading San Pedro Tiger Sharks clinch a spot into the playoffs when it defeated the Belize City No Limit Team by the score of 70-65.

The top scorers for the San Pedro Tiger Sharks were George Williams with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal; Jamal Kelly with 14 points, 1 assist and 1 steal and Ashton Edwards who also scored 14 points to go along with his 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 steals. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Belize City No Limit team were, Kenny Brown with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal and Kyle Young who contributed 12 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in a losing effort.

At the Stann Creek Ecumenical High School Auditorium in Dangriga Town, the defending NEBL champions the Smart Belize Hurricanes won over the host team the Dangriga Dream Ballers by the score of 68-78.

The top scorers for the Smart Belize Hurricanes were Brian White with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 2 steals; Glency Lopez with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and Akeem Watters with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.

For the Dangriga Dream Ballers, the top scorers were Dillmore Conorquie with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals; Tahj Wells with 14 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists and Trevaughn Usher who also scored 14 points to go along with his 10 rebounds and a steal.

On Friday 31st March, 2017, in the game played out at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, the visiting Dangriga Dream Ballers edged out the host team Cayo Western Ballaz by the score of 84-83.

The top scorers for the Dangriga Dream Ballers were Dillmore Conorquie with 19 points and 5 rebounds; Tahj Wells who also scored 19 points to go along with his 21 points, 2 assists and 2 steals and Hyram Augustine with 16 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Cayo Western Ballaz were Daniel Nolberto who scored 18 points to go along with his 2 rebounds and an assist; Ray Cruz who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds, and a steal and Richard Troyer who scored 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in a losing effort.

And on Thursday 30th March, 2017 at the UB Gymnasium in Belmopan, the Belmopan Bandits edged out the Orange Walk Running Rebels by the score of 70-69.

The top scorers for the Belmopan Bandits were Farron Louriano with 19 points, 13 rebounds and a steal and Stephen Williams who scored 14 points to go along with his 4 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal.
For the Orange Walk Running Rebels, the top scorers were Randy Usher with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal; Roger Reneau with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals and James Ewing with 13 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal.

The competition will continue this coming weekend with three more games on the schedule and all with playoffs implications. On Friday 7th April, 2017, at 9:00 pm out at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, the Orange Walk Running Rebels will go up against the Cayo Western Ballaz. And at the St. Catherine Mercy Centre Auditorium in Belize City also at 9:00 pm the Belize City No Limit Team will go up against the defending champions, the Smart Belize Hurricanes.

The competition will then continue on Saturday 8th April, at 9:00 pm out at the San Pedro High School Auditorium in San Pedro Town, the Dangriga Dream Ballers will see action against the San Pedro Tiger Sharks.
