The World Baseball Softball Confederation – Softball Division, Chief Umpire and Chief Rules Interpreter, Mr. Robert Stanton arrived in Belize on Tuesday 4th April, 2017, to conduct an Umpires’ Training for umpires of the Belize Softball Federation.

The Umpires’ Training which involves both theory and practical started on Wednesday 5th April, 2017, at Rogers Stadium. This is the first time that an Umpires’ Training Course is being conducted in Belize under the auspices of the World Baseball Softball Confederation – Softball Division and with the Chief Umpire and Chief Rules Interpreter in attendance.

The training, which started out with rules definitions, interpretations and applications of umpires’ field mechanics also involves a practical test and a written test.

From this training course, it is envision that a new Umpires Association will be formed and those trained will progress towards international certification.

Robert Stanton is from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. He will depart the country on Monday 10th April for Iran.
