Dangriga Dream Ballers halt the San Pedro Tiger Sharks in a trap Print E-mail

The National Elite Basketball League regular season competition continued over the last weekend with three games on the schedule.

On Saturday 8th April, at the San Pedro High School Auditorium in San Pedro Town, the visiting Dangriga Dream Ballers stop the league leading San Pedro Tiger Sharks in their trap by upending it 79-73.
The top scorers for the Dangriga Dream Ballers were Dillmore Conorquie with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 9 steals; Quinton Bowen with 14 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists and Tahj Wells who also scored 14 points to go along with his 14 rebounds towards the big win.

For the San Pedro Tiger Sharks, the top scorers were George Williams with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals; Douglas Valley with 12 points and 1 rebound and Jamal Kelly with 11 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

With the win over the San Pedro Tiger Sharks, the Dangriga Dream Ballers have now won 6 games for a total of 16 points and a chance to qualify for the next round of competition.

On Friday 7th April, there were two games on the schedule, at the St. Catherine Academy Mercy Centre in Belize City, the defending champions Smart Belize Hurricanes won over the Belize City No Limit squad by the score of 88-71.

The top scorers for the Smart Belize Hurricanes were Brian White who scored 20 points to go along with his 12 rebounds; Akeem Watters with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal; and Leroy Louriano with 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Belize City No Limit Team were Kyle Young with 22 points and 10 rebounds; Russel Staine who scored 14 points and 2 rebounds and Kenny Brown who scored 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

And in the other game played out at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, the Cayo Western Ballaz kept its playoff hopes alive when it defeated the Orange Walk Running Rebels by the score of 73-65.

The top scorers for the Cayo Western Ballaz were Daniel Nolberto with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals; Darwin Leslie with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals; Elsworth Itza with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals and Gene Myvett with 10 rebounds, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

For the visiting Orange Walk Running Rebels, the top scorers were Leon Jacob with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist; Roger Reneau with 13 points and 7 rebounds and a steal and James Ewing who scored 12 points to go along with his 17 rebounds and a steal.

The competition will take a break for the Easter weekend and will resume on Thursday 20th April, 2017, at 8:30 pm out at the UB Gymnasium between the Belmopan Bandits and the Cayo Western Ballaz.
