Guatemalan woman was found with a prohibited firearm Print E-mail

Martha Interiano, a 46-year-old Guatemalan with Belize residency and resident of Halls Layout Area, Corozal Town, was charged with a single count of possession of a prohibited firearm. Her son, Jose Interiano, 20-year-old Belizean national of Mile 83 on the Phillip Goldson Highway, Corozal Town, was charged with two criminal offenses. One of them, kept unlicensed ammunitions and the other, the possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply to another person/s for the purpose of drug trafficking.

In court before Judge Adolph Lucas, Martha was granted bail in the sum of $7,500 plus one surety of the same amount while Jose was granted bail of $5,000 and a surety of the same amount. Both are to report to the Corozal Police Station once a week and attend all court adjournment dates.

According to police, they executed a search at a house in the Halls Layout area where they found an unlicensed firearm with an unknown serial number and five live rounds of ammunition. The firearm was found under a plastic pool full of water. Martha was present during the search when the firearm was found.

According to police, they arrived at another house at Mile 83 on the Phillip Goldson Highway and searched under a red Mazda vehicle. There they found a bag containing 230 grams of cannabis and 10 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.
