An innovative program that seeks to engage our young people will be continued by San Ignacio Police. The San Ignacio Community Oriented Policing Program COPP  is embarking on a Gang Resistance Education and Training GREAT Pilot Project within a jurisdiction occupied by many young persons. This project will allow four GREAT instructors to facilitate the GREAT Program on the Elementary Curriculum of the GREAT Program to 16 primary schools. (Four primary schools are located within the Twin Towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena and 12 more are located within the surrounding villages.)

The Elementary Curriculum of GREAT consists of six lessons, lasting 45 minutes per lesson, to be taught once a week and is expected to start on May 15th and conclude on June 16th 2017. Such a curriculum, which discusses bullying, controlling anger and other essentials, will be applied to the Arms of Love, Sacred Heart Roman Catholic, Santa Elena Roman Catholic, Baptist Government School, St. Francis Xavier, Cristo Rey School, San Antonio Roman Catholic, San Antonio Evangelical and other schools.
