Davone Gillett, a 20-year-old resident of Pink’s Alley, has been charged with aggravated assault and has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison until July 18, 2017. A woman alleges that she was assaulted by a man holding a gun at her through Majestic Alley.

In a police report made on May 17, Shirley Mejia, a 41-year-old Pink’s Alley resident, claimed that on Tuesday, May 16, she and her daughter-in-law saw a young man come from the direction of Munoz Alley and asked Gillett what was happening.  She later saw another man hand over a firearm to Gillett. Mejia claimed that Gillett held and cranked the firearm and pointed it toward her direction. Fearing her life, Mejia reported the matter and requested court action. Around 1:20 a.m. on May 17, Gillett was arrested and charged with the offense of aggravated assault.

Gillett appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser on Thursday, May 18, 2017 where he was unrepresented. He pleaded not guilty but due to the nature of the offense, he was denied bail and remanded to prison.
