Ryan Alvarez sentenced to prison for robbery of an Immigration officer and a businessman Print E-mail

One of three men accused of being a part of a robbery was sentenced to two 5 year sentences in the Belize Central Prison. He is Ryan Alvarez who was accused, along with Russell Bernardez and Darrington Louriano (deceased), of the 2012 robbery in the city where Lindsey Wade, an Immigration Officer, and Dorian Usher, a businessman, were held at gunpoint.

The allegation made against the men was that on June 1, 2012, they robbed Usher and Wade. Usher was robbed of a $600 gold bracelet, $2,000 gold chain and medal, and two rings valued at $1,000 and $900. Wade was robbed of his $680 HTC cellular phone, $395 Samsung phone, $125 silver and gold chain, $2,800 white and gold chain, $120 Fossil wallet, BZ$300, and US$300. Lauriano and Alvarez were charged with robbing Usher while all three men were charged with robbing Wade.

Alvarez, who had pleaded not guilty, pleaded guilty on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser. He pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and was sentenced to two 5 year terms. Fornunately for Alvarex, the terms are to run concurrently. In the case of Bernardez, his case is pending.
