Wednesday, May 17, 2017 was World Telecommunication and Information Day and the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Operators announced that a Belizean won the annunal competition. She is 18-year-old Jo-Elisa Clarke of Calcutta, Corozal. Clarke has won four times since the inception of the competition eleven years ago. CANTO’s annual video competition was held under the theme of: “Technology and me- Exploring the Possibilities of ICT.”

The video demonstrated ways to promote and disseminate information from a business to consumers with the use of technology. In Clarke’s presentation, she used a water compay to convey the idea that a small business can be developed with the use of technology. She showed that this can make an impact on the entire country and not just the business.

Clarke graduated on May 21 and her graduation gift will be a visit to the thirty-third annual CANTO Conference and Trade Exhibition in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. As part of her winnings, Clarke received US $1,000 cash along with a tablet.
