Hummingbird Elementary girls and Holy Redeemer boys capture National Primary Schools Volleyball titles Print E-mail

The National Primary Schools Volleyball Championships were played on Thursday 18th May, 2017, at the Belize Elementary School Auditorium and the Stars’ Volleyball Gym.

In the girls’ championship game played, Hummingbird Elementary School representing the Belize District won handily over the Toledo Christian Academy representing the Toledo District by the score of 25-8 and 25-8 to capture the national title.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ championship game, Holy Redeemer boys’ representing the Belize District defeated Howard Smith Nazarene representing the Cayo District in three sets by the score of 25-23, 23-25 and 15-9.

In the girls’ consolation game, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic School representing the Cayo District defeated Light of the Valley Baptist School representing the Stann Creek District by the score of 25-17 and 25-16 to finish third in the championship.

In the third place game in the boys’ division, Light of the Valley Baptist School representing the Stann Creek District defeated Chan Pine Ridge Government School representing the Orange Walk District by the score of 25-16 and 25-21.

In the first game in the girls’ semi-final round, Hummingbird Elementary School defeated Light of the Valley Baptist School by the score of 25-13 and 25-14. In the second game, Toledo Christian Academy defeated Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic School in three sets by the score of 16-25, 25-22 and 15-11.

In the first semi-final game in the boys’ competition, Holy Redeemer School defeated Light of the Valley Baptist School in two sets by the score of 25-19 and 25-8. And in the second game played, Howard Smith Nazarene defeated Chan Pine Ridge Government School by the score of 25-12 and 25-21.

In the first game of the championship played in the girls’ competition, Hummingbird Elementary School defeated Chan Pine Ridge Government School by the score of 25-8 and 25-22.

In game two, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic School won over Corozal Church of Christ representing the Corozal District by the score of 25-16 and 25-6. In game three, Hummingbird Elementary School won over Toledo Christian Academy by the score of 25-9 and 25-21. In game four, Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic School defeated Light of the Valley Baptist School by the score of 25-9 and 25-5.

In game five, Toledo Christian Academy won over Chan Pine Ridge Government School by the score of 25-21 and 25-16. And in the final game in the first round of the girls’ competition, Light of the Valley Baptist School won over Corozal Church of Christ in two sets by the score of 25-13 and 25-11.

In the first game of the boys’ competition, Holy Redeemer School defeated Chan Pine Ridge Government School by the score of 25-12 and 25-18.

In game two, Howard Smith Nazarene won over Corozal Church of Christ representing the Cayo District in three sets by the score 23-25, 25-13 and 15-10. In game three, Holy Redeemer School won over Punta Gorda Methodist School representing the Toledo District by the score of 25-18 and 25-16.

In game four, Howard Smith Nazarene defeated Light of the Valley Baptist School by the score of 25-8 and 25-19. In game five, Chan Pine Ridge Government School won over Punta Gorda Methodist School in three sets by the score of 26-24, 16-25 and 16-14.

And in the final game of the boys’ first round, Light of the Valley Baptist School won over Corozal Church of Christ by the score of 21-25, 12-25 and 15-13.

At the end of the championship, Jayda Smith of Hummingbird Elementary School was named the Most Valuable Player in the girls’ competition while Allan Auil of Holy Redeemer School was named the Most Valuable Player in the boys’ competition.
