Weed, guns and ammunition taken off the streets Print E-mail

On Saturday, 27th May, 2017, members of the Gang Suppression Unit conducted searches in an apartment complex off Saint Jude Street, Belize City. This resulted in the discovery of a black plastic bag containing 110 grams of cannabis. The drugs were found underneath one of the apartment rooms. No one was in the immediate area at the time of the discovery so it was labeled as found property.

Another search was conducted underneath another one of the rooms of the apartment which resulted in the discovery of a black parcel wrapped with transparent tape which contained compressed cannabis amounting to 883 grams.

Members of the GSU then proceeded to Lindo’s Alley, Belize City where the conducted searches and amongst some pallets that were in the area, a black plastic bag with 78 grams of Cannabis was found. No one was in the immediate area at the time of the discovery.

A search was later conducted inside a yard on Antelope Street, Belize City which resulted in the discovery of a chrome metal magazine (16 shooter capacity) containing live Aguila brand 9mm rounds of ammunition. The magazine was found near the zinc fence.  Also during that search, a black plastic bag containing live S & B brand 9mm rounds of ammunition were found.

Members of the GSU proceeded to Iguana Street, Belize City and conducted a search which resulted in the discovery of a Smith and Wesson brand 9mm pistol and magazine containing live GFL brand 9mm rounds of ammunition.

A search was later conducted on an abandoned lot which resulted in the discovery of a black plastic bag containing 334 grams of cannabis. A further search in the same abandoned lot resulted in the discovery of another black plastic bag containing 64 grams of cannabis.

On Monday May 29, 2017, Orange Walk Police visited an area by the riverside about 5 miles Northwest of August Pine Ridge Village where under some bushes a sack was found. The sack contained a 16-gauge shotgun along with 22 - 16 gauge cartridges.
