Another teenager has been charged in connection with an armed robbery of a construction worker that occurred on May 20, 2017 on Southern Foreshore in Belize City. Shemar Nunez, an 18-year-old student of ITVET was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser on May 26 where he was read a single charge of robbery with a firearm upon the construction worker.

Allegations are that George Zetina, 53-years, was ambushed by three male persons on the same day. One of the men placed a firearm behind his ear. According to Zetina, the men then searched his pockets and stole $100 cash, a cell phone valued at $400, and a number of personal documents including his Social Security card and a Heritage Bank card. The men also made off with his black male frame beach cruiser bicycle, all to a total of $650.00.

In court, Nunez, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to the charge but due to the nature of the offense, allegedly committed with the use of a firearm, he was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central Prison until July 25, 2017. Nunez now joins his alleged accomplice, another teenager, 18-year-old Belizean/American student, Kyle Latchman. Latchman previously appeared in court and was also remanded.
