Mothers are the foundation of humanity. They are the reason why there is continuity of life and it is only fitting to always be paying tribute to them. Even the bible refers to the honor which should be given to mothers. In Orange Walk Town the area representative for the Orange Walk East constituency, Honorable Elodio Aragon Jr. paid tribute to mothers in a special way.

On Saturday May 28, the second annual Aragon’s Tribute to Mothers was held at the Louisiana Field in Orange Walk Town to celebrate mothers in that community. Honorable Aragon and his Orange Walk East Committee assisted by the Orange Walk East Youth Popular Front put together a spectacular event featuring entertainment, food and hundreds of gifts for the mothers who were in attendance. The entertainment consisted of serenading of the moms by a Mariachi Band which was brought in from Merida, performances by Mr. Pelayo, Captain Roby and several dances by young dancers.

A small meal was provided with soft drinks and of course the seemingly endless amount of gifts and prizes made for a very special night. The event lasted for over five hours and ended in an impressive fireworks display all courtesy of Honorable Elodio Aragon Jr. Over one thousand mothers attended the event which is the second one being held by Hon. Aragon this one bigger than the last. In addressing the Mothers Honorable gave them thanks for attending and invited them in advance for next year’s tribute. He also thanked his support group – the O.W. East Committee and the O.W. East Youth Popular Front for all the work they put in to ensure that the event be the great success that it was.
